I recently got my hands, well ears, on a copy of A Queer Sort of Queen by Sally Bend from Audible. I wasn’t sure what to expect when listening to an audio book erotic story. I’ll admit the idea had intrigued me for a while and, despite taking a couple of minutes to get into, I really loved the experience!
I lay down on my bed, headphones in, hit play and closed my eyes. At first I thought I was going to struggle with the female narrator’s voice but that was just me getting used to a different way of enjoying a story. Everyone has their idea of a perfect sexy narrator and I had to adjust to the woman telling me the story.However, I actually found myself really enjoying the narration by the end, it really helped bring the story to life. Indeed, during the intimate scenes the narrator sounded like she was having fun which, in turn, helped me.
When I read a paperback (or Kindle version) I enjoy being able to stop and think about what I’ve read (or just to touch myself!) but, with an audio book it’s a little harder to do that. However, being “hands free” with an audio book does have a couple of big advantages in that you’re free to do what you like with your hands 😉
The story itself was pretty cool, I enjoyed the idea behind it, a Futa island receives a special guest and fun times occur. There was a little back story which I personally think helps with creating images in my head, I don’t want to jump straight into the steamy stuff. In total the story took just a little over 35 minutes. I haven’t read the paperback version but I’d guess it would be a faster read. I actually felt more relaxed with the audio version, I was able to close my eyes, lay down and let someone else tell the story to me.
Audio books are, in general, more expensive than paperbacks or E-books but then that’s understandable with the cost of a narrator. Perhaps there are some authors who do their own narration though. At $3.95 I don’t think the price of this audio story was overly expensive but the E-version is a third of the price currently on Amazon. I don’t see audio books taking over from the electronic adult books I read but it will become a monthly treat to get an audio story or two. Check out the audio book or E-book version of the story, I’m sure you’ll enjoy it as much as I did.
